Semifinals set for
Super Fight 145ers

A grind-out win by undefeated Chuck Pieritz over Isaac Enriquez, an impressive victory by Royce Arnold over Andy Mundt and Joseph Estrada's finish of Mitch Parker closed out the opening round of our Super Fight Series tournament for the lightweight division.
August dates are being set for the semifinals with Pieritz scheduled to take on Sinjen Ruby (a winner at our Oskaloosa event in April) and Estrada facing Arnold.
"We had four great fights to kick this thing off," matchmaker Chad Bergmeier said. "Estrada was impressive from the standpoint that he was a late addition and took out a very talented guy. I can't wait to see what happens next because Arnold is a handful. Then, we've got Chuck who is undefeated and getting better and better against Sinjen who is tough in so many ways. It'll be fun."
The three opening-round fights took place on Extreme Challenge 209 in Bettendorf on May 4. The card was highlighted by two title fights.
In the amateur 170-pound division champion Jeremy Anderson defeated Randy Meade for a second time by decision.
"I just can't beat that guy," Meade said.
Then, in the main event, our 135-pound pro title fight was somewhat of an oddity. Ruddy Gray, originally scheduled to face Jake Klemme, had to withdraw the day before the event due to injury. Eric Vo of Dubuque stepped in and stepped up. Usually a flyweight, Vo took the fight on less than 24-hour's notice and then went five rounds with Klemme to win the title by unanimous decision.
